Marsh Oaks Independent Living is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible environment for all visitors, residents, and their families. Our home is designed to support individuals with mobility limitations and other accessibility needs.

Current Accessibility Arrangements:

Parking:
On-site parking is available directly in front/slightly adjacent of the residence. While designated accessible parking is not formally marked, the driveway and walkway provide clear, unobstructed access to the front entrance.

Entrance Access:

Entering Marsh Oaks is easy and features a nearly flat entry. There are no full flights of steps to climb; instead, guests will navigate just one low 2-inch step onto the front porch, followed by a standard 5-to-6-inch step through the front door.

Interior Layout:
All primary living areas are located on a single floor. Hallways and doorways are wide enough to accommodate mobility devices such as walkers.

Restroom Accessibility:
Resident bathrooms are equipped with grab bars and non-slip flooring. Additional safety modifications are made as needed based on resident needs.

Common Areas:
The living room, dining area, and kitchen are open and accessible, with furniture arranged to provide easy navigation.

Mobility Support:

Mobility aids are permissible to maintain stability, foster maximum independence in daily activities and ensure residents can navigate their homes safely and confidently.

Public Transportation

Local bus stops are easily accessible nearby, including GoDurham Route 16 located just 1.2 miles from the home at the Mineral Springs Road stop. You can view the live countdown and schedule updates via the Official Stop Guide. To ensure

seamless travel, full transportation coordination is readily available for all scheduled appointments or outings upon request.

Additional Information:

Marsh Oaks does not have elevators or audio induction systems. However, we are continuously working to improve our environment to meet accessibility needs.

Office Hours: Monday – Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Closed for lunch between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM). Please note: Office hours may vary as we are often out of the office providing direct, dedicated support.
Direct Communication: We stay in close, direct contact with the residents and families we serve. Active clients have access to our personal contact for real-time communication.
On-Site Availability: We care for our residents like they are our own so we are heavily focused on community engagement therefore walk-in consultations are not recommended are we may not be in office at the time.
